Review of the 2022 Mercedes C Class

The brand-new Mercedes C Class.

Do we really need a brand-new take on the Mercedes C Class? Well, we didn’t think so. That was until we saw the latest offering and just how impressive its promising to be.

The Mercedes C Class has always been a luxurious lease choice, it packs in a whole lot of tech, an insanely upmarket and comfortable interior, and the kind of drive that finds the perfect balance between smooth, casual cruising, and menacing power. Imagine our faces when we realised that the newest Mercedes C Class takes all of that and turns it up a notch. It’s exactly what we didn’t know we needed.

What’s new on the Mercedes C Class for 2022?

Well, remember all of those features we just said that the Mercedes C Class offers? The 2022 version expands on this and does so in an even more luxurious finish. The design isn’t all that different, it’s still the stunning C Class we know and love, but there’s a range of touches that crank this model up to new levels of high standards. The 2022 Mercedes C Class has set the bar for the entry-level luxury car segment, and we predict many manufacturers will be taking inspiration.

Something stunning to look at with the brand-new C Class.

The Mercedes C Class is now, and has always been, a really important model for the manufacturer. It’s been around a long while, and the stylings in particular have felt a huge change. Cast your mind to way back when – the original Mercedes C Class was a boxy machine with sharp angles, but it was certainly on-trend for its time. In fact, the first generation maintains a retro charm that many motorists will feel nostalgic for. So where does that leave the newest C Class? Well, those sharp details transform into sultry curves, whilst you can still find a sharp angle here or there that provides balance. Think of its silhouette like a prominent cheek bone against a pretty face, or maybe a nice wedge of cheese on a round biscuit – whatever suits your preference.

The Mercedes C Class line includes a Saloon and Estate body style that are both as gorgeous as the other. What really stands out, and what Mercedes have been keen to draw attention too, is the diamond grille that pouts at us from the front bumper. It’s a happy medium between the grille-less electric models we’re now seeing, and the chunky chrome grilles we got used to. The Mercedes C Class feels fresher than that, but still handsome in its design and not too overdone that it will soon go out of style. That’s what’s really impressive about the complete design of the Mercedes C Class lease car – it’s mastered a special balance between the new and the old that feels elegantly timeless, but absolutely upmarket.

Mercedes themselves have described the C Class as having: ‘a minimalistic design idiom that blends luxury and sportiness as a matter of course,’ and we do agree with that to some extent. But, whichever way Mercedes try and swing it, the C Class really does feel a bit too glamorous to be minimalistic, especially when you sit down in the cabin.

Does anyone do interiors better than Mercedes? The C Class makes us question it.

Mercedes is well known for their impressive interiors, and they love to embellish them with the flashiest of the flash. The new Mercedes C Class is no exception, and, in fact, it might even be one of the fanciest in their line-up. Slap in the centre of the dash is a high-resolution, touchscreen central display that’s 11.9 inches of pure tech genius. Imagine you can access your personal profiles through a fingertip sensor, as well as gain access to the intuitive MBUX system. You can also opt for the futuristic feeling heads-up display, to keep you focused on the road whilst still up to date with your car. It really is a dreamy set-up.

The brand-new Mercedes C Class puts a real focus on relaxation and serenity, with Mercedes even promising that their ‘smart comfort functions reduce your workload’. At the rear, you’ll get more legroom than ever before in a C Class model, and the front offers the ability to remember the perfect seat positions for up to three people. There’s even an ambient lighting set-up with a huge range of colours that can set the mood for your drive, extending from the centre console, and moving back throughout the whole vehicle. All of these colours alternate dynamically to tailor the perfect setting for your stunning C Class cruise.

What’s it like to drive a brand-new 2022 Mercedes C Class?

So, it looks great and it’s sublime to sit in – but how does it drive? Thankfully, it drives very well indeed. There’s a couple of options for the Mercedes C Class, but each model and specification always have that one thing in common where they can provide an incredible feeling on the road. You’ll even get a choice for a plug-in electric hybrid C Class with the latest range, so you can enjoy a luxury car whilst making savings on running costs, and doing your bit for the environment.

There’s a particular focus on the Mercedes C Class where safety is involved, as the manufacturer promise something seriously impressive. The Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive system was designed to ‘reduce the strain, particularly in stressful situations,’ and is made up of a collection of driver aids that will give the C Class some real autonomy. It’s an interesting take from Mercedes-Benz, to base this latest model on feelings of relaxation and de-stressing, catching on to the fact that drive time is ‘me’ time for many motorists. The Intelligent Drive system really supports this and offers features like the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, a feature that will adapt your car’s speed to be slower than the traffic in front, so you can take on the busy commute with less stress and much more comfort. You can even get a Driving Assistance Plus Package, one that offers partially automated driving, so you’ll get to sit back and enjoy your daily drives.

The brand-new Mercedes C Class 2022 specifications and models.

The people at Mercedes have given us choices – how kind of them. The first option in the Mercedes C Class range is the Sport model, a sleekly styled offering with 17 inch alloy wheels in a five spoke design, painted black with a high-sheen finish. It comes with all the incredible Mercedes tech, and is a stunning lease choice that feels miles ahead of the usual entry level offering.

The Mercedes C Class AMG Line comes next and boosts those alloys up to the 18 inch AMG style, with a five spoke design, aerodynamically optimised, and painted a tantalite grey with a high-sheen finish. You also get AMG detailing and special designs throughout the car – think floor mats, front and rear bumpers, plus a dashboard in ARTICO man-made leather.

After that, there’s the Mercedes C Class AMG Line Premium that goes for some even bigger 19 inch AMG alloys, with a multi-spoke design and a Himalayas grey paint job. Alongside that you get extra features like the KEYLESS-GO Comfort package, Seat Comfort package, and MBUX augmented reality for navigation.

The Mercedes C Class AMG Premium Plus is the top-line spec that includes all of the incredible features from its sibling models, plus the additional heads-up display, panoramic sliding sunroof, and thermotronic automatic climate control with four climate zones.
