The Honda e has arrived with unbelievable lease deals

The Honda e 2020 electric car – petite perfection.

Through my work here at motorlet, I really do get to witness some astonishing vehicles. We have some incredible offerings here (check out our latest special offers) but there’s something about the Honda e that has really caught my attention.

I do feel like the special bond I seemed to have formed with the Honda e has something to do with the fact it looks as if it might star in a children’s film and one day start talking to me. But even if it never uttered a word, I’d still be unable get over just how striking it is.

Following the Honda Urban EV concept car that was unveiled back in 2017, the Honda e is a more attainable version of the embellished original. I would even argue that the E has stylistically overtaken its concept counterpart.

The Honda e – can we call it retro?

When you first clap eyes on the flashy new Honda e, it takes a second to work out whether the styling is decidedly futuristic or entirely retro. There’s something about the E that might trick us into thinking that somebody’s dad has just rolled it out of their at-home garage, aiming to relive his youth with a weekend-stealing passion project. Park it next to a classic 1975 Civic and you’ll get my point.

It’s a trend that’s in, though. Retro styling is coming back in a huge way and the nostalgia that comes with owning a modern-day version of your pride and joy from ‘back-in-the-day’ is almost too good to be true. Even those of us who never lived through the ‘retro-age’ are being swayed towards these offerings.

For the Honda e, it’s not trying to attract the Tesla chasing, wannabe astronauts who want their vehicle to look as futuristic as possible. It’s a confident little car that knows its place, and it’s doing a great job.

Honda e interior – unexpected but perfect.

I’ll say it again – retro. Yet, perfectly balanced with huge full-width screens in the dashboard that juxtapose the teak wood-esque trim. The kind of vibe you’d get if you stuck a few iPads to your Nan’s wooden sideboard.

It’s completely unlike anything on the UK market currently: cameras replace traditional wing mirrors and display your surroundings on screens in the dash, working slicker than other models with the same function. Then, two infotainment screens sit comfortably next to an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. If you fancy it, you can even transform your stretch of screens into a mock aquarium when parked.

If you’re the driver, you can fit three more people in the Honda e alongside you. The high roof means that you never feel packed in – there’s space for everyone to sit comfortably, with plenty of leg room.

A panoramic sunroof adds further spacious feeling to the Honda e, but the 171 litre of boot space might not be the best for those who like to overpack. Should you need some extra space, the rear seats are able to lay flat to fit in those extra shopping bags.

Almost excessive tech – The Honda e is showing off.

If there’s one thing that puts a Honda e lease car straight into futuristic territory, it’s the smartphone feature that allows you to unlock the car with the help of a unique code. You can even use the My Honda+ app to determine when your little E starts charging. There’s so much to do with just a few taps of your screen.

Safety features such as adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, auto high-beam headlines and auto breaking makes the Honda e drive with so much ease. I’ve seen other blogs state that the My Honda+ App lets you babysit the car, but I reckon a Honda e lease car is more likely to be babysitting its driver.

The Honda e looks incredible – but its what’s inside that counts.

I can sit here and tell you how gorgeous the Honda e is all day, and I wouldn’t be lying. We all know by now that looks aren’t everything and, for all you know, the Honda e could be an absolutely traumatic drive. The good news is - it definitely isn’t.

The Honda e is available in two different trims, and we have both available for lease, here at motorlet.

There’s the Honda e 100kW 36kWh 5dr Auto that can hit 0-62mph in 9 seconds, and the 113kW Advance variation of the E that reaches 0-62mph slightly faster, in 8.3 seconds. Both the standard model and the advance can cover 131 miles before they need a little nap, thanks to the 36kWh battery.

On top of that, rapid charging means the E is up and ready to go in as little as 31 minutes.

The compact size of the Honda e, paired with its zero emissions, makes it the perfect city car. Add to this the turning allowance made possible for the front wheels by its rear-wheel-drive layout, the Honda e will make light work of any tight bends be that in urban areas, or out on country roads.

Wide set wheels make the Honda e a surprisingly stable lease car, for one so small. Honestly, it’s a dreamy little electric drive.

What are the main trim differences in the Honda e lease car?

The already brilliant Honda e gets a slightly fancier sibling in the Honda e Advance.

As a standard, a Honda elease car will bag you:

- My Honda+ compatibility
- Full width dual screen
- Leather steering wheel
- Single peddle control
- Smart entry and start
- Front heated seats
- Charging port
- Honda SENSING
- LED Daytime running lights
- Sky roof
- Pop-out door handles
- Rear privacy glass
- Side Camera Mirror System
- 16” alloy wheels
- A power output of 136 PS

It’s a huge array of features (my fingers hurt from typing them) that you might not expect to be included in the standard model of any range. The introduction of the Honda e Advance will have you wondering – what more could they offer?

The Honda e Advancelease car gets you some luxury added extras:

- Centre Camera Mirror System
- Heated steering wheel
- Honda Parking Pilot
- 230 V outlet
- 16” or 17” alloy wheels
- Power output of 154 PS
- Around View Monitor
- Premium Audio with 8 speakers
- Blind Spot Monitor
- Cross Traffic Monitor
- Heated Front Windscreen

I won’t play dumb – I know the reason. Not only is it a teensy little bundle of retro fun, but its high-tech embellishments turn that excitement into straight up delirium. To add to that, the drive itself is as smooth as the leather on the steering wheel. What’s not to love?
