Updates on the semiconductor shortage.

Semiconductors are the little chips behind the electrical processes in so many of our everyday devices – including cars. There’s been a huge shortage of these chips for some time, and manufacturers are working hard to get things moving again. Unfortunately, without those all-important semiconductors, lease car orders are experiencing some changes.

We’ll be posting all the latest news surrounding the semiconductor shortage and the lease car industry right here, so keep an eye out for updates. If you have any questions or need an extra helping hand, the motorlet team are always around to help.

Land Rover and SEAT cancel thousands of orders.

Both SEAT and Land Rover have cancelled thousands of orders on their models due to the semiconductor shortages.

SEAT have also scrapped huge amounts of car orders, with around 1500 orders for their Leon model cancelled as they simply cannot meet demands.

Jaguar and Land Rover pull special offers due to semiconductor shortages.

Due to issues with supply caused by the semiconductor shortages at Land Rover and Jaguar, all special offers on lease models will be removed as of October 15, 2021.

The semiconductor shortage is still causing issues in the automotive industry, with Jaguar announcing earlier this year that they’re expecting to see their wholesale figures halve in 2021.

If you’d like to take advantage of any current offers, you need to get your order in before October 15, 2021, so you don’t miss out. We don’t know when the special offers will be running again, so it’s best to act fast if you really want something!

Order your new lease car now to avoid semiconductor delays.

The ongoing semiconductor shortage is still causing issues with the supply and demand of car manufacturing. We know that lots of our customers are eager to get in their new lease car, but the lack of chips means they’re having to wait longer than usual.

Some of our lease models are now facing wait times of over twelve months so, if you are due a lease car upgrade next year, it’s best to order your new car now so it arrives as you need it.

There are a few models in particular that we definitely know are facing extended wait times and changes. The Diesel Land Rover Evoque models are facing waits of over twelve months, whilst Land Rover and Jaguar have stopped taking orders of some key models. Mercedes models have removed their augmented navigation system and wireless charging features, and the Premium Plus pack will not be available with some cars.

As well, Volkswagen have pulled their T-Roc model and will not be currently producing any more of these cars. Audi will no longer take orders for panoramic roofs, won’t include wireless charging, and will only include one Smart Key in their orders. Some Audi add-on packages will also no longer be available.

If you need help finding a suitable alternative to any of the lease models currently out of production, the motorlet team are happy to help.

Semiconductor shortages cause changes to Audi lease cars.

Semiconductor shortages are causing all kinds of havoc in the automotive community and the prestigious Audi brand is no exception. The manufacturer has been hit hard by the shortages and are having to make changes in order to reach demand.

As a result of this, features such as the Audi Phone Box and Phone Box light features have been dropped as standard from some Audi models, except for the Audi R8 and the e-tron GT. The missing features will be replaced by an Audi Bluetooth interface.

You’ll also now only receive one Smart Key with your Audi lease car, unless you’re ordering an Audi A1, A3, TT or R8 model. These lease cars will still be delivered with two Smart Keys.

Semiconductor shortages hit the automotive industry hard.

The electric processes in our lease cars are helped along by these pesky semiconductor chips that have been giving us all the run around for some time. The COVID-19 pandemic really pushed the shortages into dire territory, but the supply and demand chain hasn’t been functioning at its best for some time now.

Due to the shortages, the manufacturing of cars has slowed, and prices have gone up in places, whilst lead times are increasing at a rapid rate. You might find that you’re having to wait much longer than usual for your new lease car, or some features and models may no longer be in production.

Everyone involved is doing the best they can to keep on top of the issue and find a solution, but it’s not been easy. Keep an eye on this page for further updates or have a chat with the motorlet team if you have any questions.
